International Student Process
We are glad you are considering Huntington University! Students from all over the world find success at HU through excellent academic programs, a strong student support network, and a vibrant faith community. While you are learning more about the Forester community, be sure to check out our academic program pages and some quick facts about HU.
International students are required to submit an official transcript evaluation and show proof of English proficiency. Once converted to a 4.0 scale, HU requires a 2.3 GPA or higher for admission.
Additionally, the English proficiency requirements are as follows: TOEFL score of 75 or above, IELTS score of 6.0 or above, Duolingo score of 105 or above, or SAT English score of 500 or above. If you meet these requirements, you may email all documents to HU’s international admissions counselor, and we hope to see you apply to Huntington University!
*Please note, international transfer students who have studied at another university within the U.S. do not need to submit proof of English proficiency.

We are so excited that you are ready to become a Forester! The international student deposit is $2,500 and can be made through Fly Wire. You will need your student ID number, which can be found at the top of your acceptance letter and financial aid award, or by contacting your admissions counselor. Please note that $150 of this payment will be designated as a student deposit and the remaining $2,350 will be held by the business office and applied to your first-year balance.
*Are you making a payment with a U.S. bank account? That payment can be made on HU’s website.
First, complete the I-20 information form. Then email a copy of your passport and proof of funding to the international admissions counselor. Proof of funding must be a bank statement from within the past six months that certifies the amount in the account is enough to cover tuition and living costs for the year.
*If you are transferring to Huntington University from another university within the U.S., you must contact the DSO at your current institution and request that they release your current SEVIS record.
HU will email you an electronic copy and mail a paper copy of your I-20 after it is issued. Then, it is time to schedule your visa interview!
First, complete the online DS-160 Nonimmigrant Visa application.
Then, pay the I-901 SEVIS fee and schedule your F-1 visa interview at the U.S. embassy closest to you. Since wait times can vary greatly and sometimes even change weekly, make sure you are aware of the estimated wait time at the U.S. Embassy near you!
When it is time for your scheduled interview, be sure to bring the following documents with you:
All appropriate forms as required by your country
Passport valid for at least six months into the future
HU Signed I-20
I-901 fee receipt of SEVIS Fee payment
HU Acceptance letter
Evidence of financial support
Intent to return to your home country after your studies
International Student Orientation begins on August 20th, 2023! As you are booking your flights, be sure to communicate all travel plans to HU’s international admissions counselor. International students should plan to arrive just before August 20th. Also, transportation will be provided from the Fort Wayne and Indianapolis airports to campus! However, international student-athletes should communicate with their coach to ensure preparation for any preseason training attendance and airport transportation. We can’t wait to welcome you to campus!
